Poppy Seeds
From ₹123.00
Sourcing: Whole poppy seeds are sourced from Nimaj, Rajasthan.
Culinary Usage: Being a source of fatty oil, poppy seeds are used in various cuisines. They can be used in fruit salad dressings and fragrant yeast breads. Poppy seeds add a nutty flavour to every dish whether it is bread, cakes, confectionery, Indian sweets, pastry crusts, pancakes or waffle batter. These cream-coloured seeds are mainly used for cooking. In Indian cuisine the seeds are generally soaked and ground alone with other ingredients to thicken the gravy and add more flavour to the dish. Poppy seeds even blend amazingly with coconut and jaggery enveloped in a case of flaky pastry and deep-fried to make a delectable Indian sweet called “Karanji”. The seeds are often sprinkled on Indian breads like naan for the exclusive flavour and aroma.
